Type-specific synchronization is a known approach to increase transaction concurrency and avoid conflicts by taking into account the semantics of object types. Unfortunately, current techniques are limited because they cannot be used on generic ``commodity'' servers, an issue of concern in cloud storage systems.
This talk will discuss novel methods that provide flexible ways to implement type-specific synchronization that are appropriate for cloud systems. We will consider both connected and disconnected mobile environments.
