Biography

Johannes Buchmann is the director of CASED (Center of Advanced Security Research Darmstadt and head of the cryptography and computer algebra research group in the computer science department of the Technical University of Darmstadt.
As an expert in cryptography research, he has published many scientific papers and several specialist books. His textbook “Introduction to Cryptography” is a standard work in many universities. He is a member of various scientific and editorial boards and is a scientific consultant. Prof. Dr. Johannes Buchmann is a member inter alia of the Board of Trustees of the Fraunhofer Institute for Secure Information Technology.
Johannes A. Buchmann is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Cryptology. In 1985, he received a Feodor Lynen Fellowship of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. He has also received the most prestigious award in science in Germany, the Leibniz Award of the German Science Foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft).
