Marc Shapiro

Bio:
Marc Shapiro’s research focuses on the theory and practice of consistency in distributed systems. He co-invented Conflict-free Replicated Data Types (CRDTs) in 2009-2011. Dr. Shapiro is a Distinguished Research Scholar (DRCE) Emeritus from Inria and has a rich history of collaboration with industry, including leading the Cambridge Distributed Systems group at Microsoft Research. He has authored over 100 international publications and has been awarded five patents. He has played a key role in organizing the Informatics community in Europe.
